No Walhalla Goldfields Railway Trains This Weekend
In a 16 Dec facebook post the railway has advised:
“No trains running this weekend due to track works underway.
“Sorry to say we have had to cancel this weekends services due to repair works on the line. We are replacing several sleepers on one of our bridges and it is a large job. Not what we would have planned however we keep our track up to a high standard. Thanks to a massive effort by our volunteer track workers we are hoping to be back up and running soon.
Tickets will be rescheduled or refunded.
Apologies for any disappointment and see you soon.”
While unfortunate, the closure reflects the very high safety and service standards of what is one of the world’s great railway experiences. But there is plenty more to do in Walhalla. Spectacular walking tracks, explore a gold mine, find the museum, treat yourself to fine food and coffee, look for old favourites in the lolly shop and lots more.
